About the Institution
Chembur Karnataka Sangha was established in 1955 by a group of dedicated social workers with the noble objective of promoting Arts, Culture, Literature, and Education. One of its cherished dreams of establishing a cosmopolitan educational institution in Chembur became a reality in 1966.
From its humble beginnings with just 40 students, the institution has grown into a well-recognized educational centre imparting instruction in English and Kannada mediums up to SSC level.

During the last five decades, the institution has achieved steady growth and academic recognition. Our long-cherished dream of establishing a Junior College has been realized with approval from the Education Department, Government of Maharashtra.
The Junior College offers Arts, Science, and Commerce streams and is committed to academic excellence, as reflected in consistent Board examination results.
Location
The Junior College functions from the spacious school building at Vidyasagar, Ghatla, Chembur, Mumbai – 400071.
Eligibility for F.Y.J.C. Admission
Students who have passed the SSC Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board or any equivalent recognized examination are eligible for admission to F.Y.J.C. Arts, Science, or Commerce.
Admission Process
Admissions commence after the declaration of SSC results as per the schedule notified by the Maharashtra State Board. Students must apply in person, submit duly filled application forms, and attend interviews conducted by the admission panel.
Admission is confirmed only after approval by the Principal and receipt of full fees. All admissions are valid for one academic year only.

Attendance Rules
Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each term as per Maharashtra State Board regulations. Deficiency may be condoned only on valid medical grounds with proper certification.
Students failing to meet attendance requirements will not be permitted to appear for examinations and may be detained.
Rules of Discipline
Discipline is a core value of the institution. Students are expected to attend lectures regularly, maintain decorum, respect faculty and peers, and strictly avoid misconduct such as malpractice, vandalism, or use of prohibited substances.
The Principal’s decision in matters of discipline shall be final and binding.

Subject Structure
A student is required to offer six subjects at the F.Y.J.C. level. Each subject carries 100 marks.
Students of S.Y.J.C. must continue with the same subject combination chosen in F.Y.J.C. No change of subjects is permitted.

Examination Standard of Passing
A student of F.Y.J.C. is required to appear for unit tests and terminal examinations as prescribed by the Maharashtra State Board.

Passing & Promotion Rules
- Attendance in all examinations and unit tests is compulsory.
- Performance in all tests and examinations is considered in the final result.
- A candidate must secure a minimum of 35 marks out of 100 in each subject.
- Final result is decided on the basis of average marks.
- Grace marks may be awarded up to 30 marks, not exceeding 10 marks per subject, as per Board rules.
- Condonation rules apply only after calculating subject-wise average marks.
Re-Examination & Medical Cases
Students unable to appear for Terminal I or II examinations due to genuine medical reasons must submit a medical certificate within three days from the commencement of the examination.
Re-examination may be conducted for promotion to Std. XII. Failure to appear for re-examination will result in the declaration of results as per the prescribed formula.
Grading System
- Grade I (Distinction): 75% and above
- Grade II: 60% to less than 75%
- Grade III: 45% to less than 60%
- Pass: 35% to less than 45%
Grades I, II, and III will not be awarded to candidates appearing with exemptions.
Unfair Means & Answer Scripts
Answer books of examinations (except Second Terminal Examination) may be shown to students from time to time in classrooms.
Students found copying or using unfair means will be punished strictly as per Maharashtra State Board rules.
Ex-Students
Students failing in the First Year of Junior College examination are permitted to rejoin the college and appear as regular students after payment of F.Y.J.C. fees, if they so desire.
